There won’t be an Insurgent panel at San Diego Comic-Con like there was last year for Divergent, but series stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James will still be appearing.
The actors who play Tris and Four in the Divergent film series will inevitably cause mayhem on the San Diego Comic-Con floor when they sign exclusive Comic-Con Divergent Series posters at the Lionsgate booth on Saturday, July 26 from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. pacific.
Summit tells us that there will be no Hall H panel and that Woodley and James’ signing will be the only appearance they make at SDCC.
The stars will be there to promote the home entertainment release of Divergent. The film will debut on Digital HD next Tuesday, July 22 and on Blu-ray and DVD August 5.
In related Comic-Con news, Divergent author Veronica Roth will be appearing at the convention to promote the recent release of Four: A Divergent Collection.
The cast and crew of Insurgent have been filming the highly-anticipated sequel in Atlanta, Georgia over the past couple months.

Production on the sequel to this year’s young adult hit Divergent is already underway.
Lionsgate announced Tuesday that the film adaptation of Insurgent — the second book in author Veronica Roth’s Divergent trilogy — has commenced production in Atlanta, Georgia. Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer (The Help) will join the returning cast, which inckudes Shailene Woodley, Theo James and fellow Oscar winner Kate Winslet.
RED and R.I.P.D. director Robert Schwentke is making his series debut with a screenplay by Brian Duffield and Akiva Goldsman.
The studio released the following synopsis for the film:
“Insurgent raises the stakes for Tris as she searches for allies and answers in the dystopian ruins of a futuristic Chicago. Tris (Woodley) and Four (James) are now fugitives on the run, hunted by Jeanine (Winslet), the leader of the power-hungry Erudite elite. Racing against time, they must find out what Tris’s family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Haunted by her past choices but desperate to protect the ones she loves, Tris, with Four at her side, faces one impossible challenge after another as they unlock the truth about the past and ultimately the future of their world.”
Divergent has earned $260 million at the worldwide box office since its March 21 premiere, making it the most successful Lionsgate release outside of The Hunger Games and Twilight. The third and fourth films in the series, Allegiant – Parts 1 and 2, are slated for release on March 18, 2016, and March 24, 2017, respectively.
Insurgent will debut in North America on March 20, 2015.
Hello, beautiful! We couldn’t be more excited about having Golden Globe–nominee and outspoken Mother Earth advocate Shailene Woodley grace InStyle’s June cover—in a floral bouquet Dolce & Gabbana dress, no less. If you somehow missed her badass and physically powerful performance opposite Theo James in Divergent earlier this year, make a point to catch her in The Fault in Our Stars, a love story that defines a generation (“Bring tissues,” Woodley advises).
The movie opens June 6 and is about two teens, played by Woodley and newcomer Ansel Elgort, who meet in a cancer support group. It’s a role that Woodley fought hard to get, she tells our cover story writer Sara Vilkomerson, and she even wrote a massive fan letter to the author of the original book, John Green. No surprise, the talented actress landed the part of cancer-stricken Hazel (the role required that Woodley chop off her long locks—she donated them to the nonprofit Children with Hair Loss).
Ultimately, she gleaned more from the entire experience than she anticipated. “It changed my whole life and put things in perspective,” Woodley tells Vilkomerson, who met the actress for a three-hour urban trek around West Hollywood. In the story, Woodley admits to confronting her insecurities (and trust us when we say she doesn’t mince words: at one point, she declares, “F— you, lack of confidence!”), shares recipes for her signature homemade beauty products, and reveals her openness toward finding love. “I have zero expectations and zero rules,” she says. We’re fans of her take-me-as-I-am attitude and so is pal Emma Stone who told us, “[She’s] not afraid to express her opinions and beliefs to the public. It’s brave.”
